I have worked as a clinician for 22 years during which time I obtained an MSc in Human Communication ( City University) and conducted research projects in dysarthria and voice.

I joined the Speech and Language Therapy Research Unit (SLTRU) in 1999 as lead researcher investigating computer-assisted home practice for people with dysarthria. This was funded by the Underwood Trust and by Action Medical Research. The project was completed in March 2005. Between November 2005 and January 2008 I worked for the University of Strathclyde being Principle Investigator for a study evaluating altered auditory feedback as a therapy tool for speakers with Parkinson's Disease This study was funded by the Parkinson's Disease Society and headed by Dr Anja Lowit.

In July 2007 I graduated with my PhD from University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

I currently have an Honorary contract with SLTRU and am assisting in the further development of the software emanating from the dysarthria project.
