Predicting persistence, resolution and outcomes of stuttering in children in the Avon Longitudinal S
Stuttering is a disabling condition that can have adverse effects on a child's life in school, and on young adults' occupational choice. Understanding the nature of risk and of social and emotional sequelae of stuttering is important to the provision of appropriate primary secondary and tertiary preventions. In particular, providing data which will help to differentiate, close to onset, those who are at risk for persistent stuttering is crucial to the provision of appropriate early intervention which may prevent the occurrence of persistent stuttering or its negative impact.
